Reference information

Commonly cited families (verify edition on your certificate):

  • EN 10017
  • ISO 16120
  • ASTM A510
  • GOST 5663

Wire rod and drawn wire tolerances are given in EN 10017 / ISO 16120, ASTM A510 for carbon grades, and GOST 5663 for general-purpose wire. Spring and music wire grades add additional heat-treat notes beyond density-only estimates.

How to calculate weight

Core model

V = π · (d/2)² · L
m = ρ · V

Field names

Round wire is modeled as a solid cylinder (same as round bar): π·(d/2)²·L·ρ. Typical searches include wire weight per meter, spring wire kg/km, and spool length from mass—use reverse mode to answer “how many meters in a ton” once diameter and grade density are fixed.

Fine diameters are sensitive to unit rounding; prefer metric inputs for sub-millimetre wires.
